Puglia DTA with Planetek at Space Girls Space Women exhibition in Paris

Space Girls Space Women is the theme of a photo exhibition in Paris (18 June – 1 November 2015) portraying females being fascinated, working and studying space. Among the portrayed women is Daniela Drimaco, a telecom engineer working as Business Development Specialist in Planetek’s Space Systems Unit.
Daniela Drimaco was selected as testimonial of women working in Apulian companies of Distretto Tecnologico Aerospaziale.

Giovanni Sylos Labini, CEO of Planetek Italia, said, “Planetek Italia is very much involved in sustaining women opportunities in Aerospace sector. The company employs 40% of women in its staff and is a member of WIA (Women in Aerospace) association”.

The Apulian Distretto Tecnologico Aerospaziale is an associate member of NEREUS, Network of European Regions Using Space Technologies, sponsoring partner of the exhibition that was jointly produced by SIPA Press and the European Space Agency (ESA).

NEREUS decided to engage in this initiative because it is in line with the network’s core mission: promoting the use of space technologies amongst public authorities and citizens, raising end-users’ awareness on the benefits of space in our daily lives. The exhibition is particularly suited to attract the next generation and the broad public to space activities and professions.

Space Girls Space Women contributes to one of the axes of the 2014-2015 Work Programme defined by NEREUS-President Nichi Vendola: enhancing the fascination for space by working on broad audiences through educational initiatives.

NEREUS-President Nichi Vendola is amongst the invited speaker for the festive opening ceremony of the Space Girls Space Women exhibition in Paris.
