The role of SMEs (small medium enterprises) can be more and more relevant in facilitating EU Member States fulfillments required by the EU INSPIRE Directive.
This is the premise wich lead the creation of the smeSpire community, whose main purpose is to encourage and enable the participation of SMEs in the mechanisms of harmonising and making large scale environmental content available.
Among SmeSpire's initiatives is the web portal which helps in promoting the best practices in this field at a European level. In this context Planetek Italia presented, and now are available on-line, two of its best practices:
- Cross-border, multi-lingual and harmonized access to the Member States’ territorial data (the new European INSPIRE Geoportal)
- GetLOD: an open and reusable solution to publish geospatial data on the Web as Linked Open Data (application realized for the Regione Emilia Romagna Geoportal)
