Planetek Italia has realized in 1999 a cartographic archive of the areas of production of the AOC wines, to safeguard and set off the wines of the Apulian Region in Italy. The aim is to provide the territorial communities having interest in the exploitation of quality wines, with a tool for the government of the territory, through a correct management of the information. The use of a GIS (Geographic Information System) by these organizations could constitute a valid support to the actions of producers` assistance, to safeguard the denomination from the abuse of competitors.
