Planetek Italia has joined the Copernicus Academy network. By joining the internatonal network Planetek consolidates its long-standing commitment to disseminating knowledge on Earth Observation, Geomatics and Geoinformation, with a specific focus on the EU Copernicus program
The internatonal network of the Copernicus Academy was launched by the European Commission as part of Copernicus User Uptake activities. The Copernicus Academy connects universities, research institutions, business schools, both private and non-profit organisations, in the Copernicus Participating Countries (EU28 + Norway & Iceland) and beyond. The goal of the network is to link research & academic institutions with authorities & service providers, facilitate collaborative research, develop lectures, training sessions, traineeships as well as educational and training material to empower the next generation of researchers, scientists, and entrepreneurs with suitable skill sets to use Copernicus data and information services to their full potential.
The currently over 174 members of the Copernicus Academy also work to increase the exchange of ideas and best practices across borders and disciplines while contributing to the development of the use of Earth Observation data in general and Copernicus data and information in particular, in various public or private user organisations or industries. Moreover, the Copernicus Academy fosters collaboration between educational institutions and established commercial operators or entrepreneurs so that innovation can reach the market and benefit the citizens of Europe and the future of our Planet.
As an integral part of the European Space Strategy, the Copernicus Academy has the ambition to develop new tools, to foster exchanges of knowledge as well as cross-border and cross-sectorial collaboration, with a view to contribute to unleashing the vast potential of Copernicus Sentinel data and service information.
Planetek Italia has joined the Copernicus Academy network. A membership that consolidates the long and constant commitment to disseminating knowledge on the issues of Earth Observation, Geomatics and Geoinformation, and in particular the Copernicus program.
As a member of the Copernicus Academy network, Planetek Italia aims at consolidating its commitment already undertaken in terms of technology transfer, also testified by its evolution into a Benefit Company. This means a full and clear involvement in promoting and disseminating the use of technologies, methodologies and tools of Earth Observation, Geomatics and Geoinformation.
Partners, customers and stakeholders will be able to access and benefit from initiatives such as hackathons, workshops and webinars where qualified teachers, experience and technical-scientific skills will be made available. Being part of the Copernicus Academy network will further support interactions with the scientific community and stimulate collaborations in EU and international research projects.
