STRIVING In Orbit Demonstration service platform

STRIVING In Orbit Demonstration service platform

STRIVING (Space Telecommunications Rapid Iod/ioV INteGrated service) is a one-stop-shop commercial service offering to both private and public entities affordable and effective access to space for testing, validating and/or operating their innovative solutions

In the Space market landscape, the increasing demand for advanced technologies, systems, services and applications that deliver higher performance whilst lowering the overall cost, is putting high pressure on all stakeholders (e.g. system integrators, supply chain, operators and service providers) that need to accelerate their innovation cycles and to reduce the time to market. This brings the need to shorten the development and implementation of so-called Proof of Concept (PoC) or IOV/IOD missions (In Orbit Demonstration/In Orbit Validation).

In this perspective, STRIVING (Space Telecommunications Rapid Iod/ioV INteGrated service) is a one-stop-shop commercial service offering to both private and public entities affordable and effective access to space for testing, validating and/or operating their innovative solutions. Sitael, the Space Mission Provider (SMP), is acting as single interface to customers, leading an industrial team composed by IMT, Planetek and Tyvak.

The service infrastructure is currently under development in the frame of a public-private partnership with ESA (ARTES PIONEER Initiative) that co-funds the service maiden mission as well, where Sitael is offering the opportunity of free rides for selected payloads.

The main purpose of this activity is the implementation of the service and a first demo mission based on the SITAEL S-75 small satellite platform, targeting the first SSMS VEGA launch.

Once fully operational, the STRIVING service will rely on a large portfolio of nano, micro and mini satellite platforms and a network of distributed ground stations (UHF/C/S/X Bands) to cover a wide range of needs, making the service available on the market for Telecom, Earth Observation, Navigation and Science domains.

Planetek will develop and deploy the Payload Control Center, by which the Validation team will define all the procedures for the tasking of the payload under test and for the validation of the results received from the satellite.

Call for Interest: Propose your payload for a free ride on board the first demo mission.

Register now to download the Announcement of Opportunity datapackage, containing additional information on the opportunity and how to propose your payload.

Proposals must be submitted by April 20th, 2018 – 13.00 CET.
