ERDAS Imagine 2010. Presenting a New Face to the WorldERDAS IMAGINE 2010 will have a new user interface! With many advanced software packages, functionality is buried in layers of menus, sub-menus, sub-sub-menus, and sub-sub-menu tabs. In ERDAS IMAGINE 2010, the developer team have tied together a heterogeneous set of applications in a simple, easy to use, and easy to learn UI. Other useful features are added, including the ability to have multiple views, visualize data in different modes; create custom workflows, allowing the development and packaging of specialized workflows; and a “Shoebox” data repository, so project teams can quickly share datasets. WorldView-2 Launch Date AnnouncedDigitalGlobe announced that its WorldView-2 high-resolution 8-band multi-spectral satellite is scheduled to launch on October 6th, 2009. WorldView-2, DigitalGlobe’s second next-generation class high-resolution satellite (0,50 meter resolution), is expected to nearly double DigitalGlobe`s collection capabilities.

ESA extends Envisat satellite missionThe last ESA Earth Observation Programme Board meeting decided to extend the Envisat mission until 2013. Envisat – the world’s largest and most sophisticated satellite ever built – has been providing scientists and operational users with invaluable data for global monitoring (atmosphere, land, sea and ice) and forecasting since its launch in 2002. Social Meeting Workshop: let’s start the dialogue!Last June 25th has been held in Rome, Italy, the first workshop of the Social Meeting Project, launched by Planetek Italia, that involved the Italian Geomatic Community. The Project enables an integrated environment, web based tools and workshops, to encourage an open interactive discussion on geomatic issues. The first results are already on-line, videos and presentation of the first workshop: "Spatial Data Infrastructures based on OGC standards".
