ESA`s TIGER Initiative, is trying to apply the statement of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg. TIGER aims at generating sustainable Earth Observation services for integrated water resources management in developing nations. Planetek Italia and ER Mapper partecipated to the workshop organized with African Water Authorities providing a training course on Remote Sensing with the ER Mapper software.

    Géoportail: the french style Google earth

    The GéoPortail of Institut Géographique National is a web portal for accessing public data owned by French institutions IGN and BRGM. Geoportail is one of the first webGIS realized with the new ER Mapper`s Image Web Server 8.0 which enables to create a real plug-in free webGIS portal. With Géoportail users can navigate aerial photos and IGN cartography. For 2007 is announced also the 3D navigation.

    The European Space Agency (ESA) has created a website called MIRAVI which gives access to recent images collected by Envisat, the biggest Earth Observation satellite. What can you `see` with Envisat? The medium resolution of MERIS sensor allows to monitor natural events such as for forest fires, floods or volcano eruptions.
