2005 World Year of PhysicsONU and UNESCO have declared year 2005 as the World Year of Physics. An opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Albert Einstein`s "Miraculous Year", whose theories still have a great impact on the improvement of modern technologies such GPS and satellites. A thousand events will be organized all over the world, as for example interactive exhibitions (www.mtsn.tn.it), trying to raise the public awareness of physics and its importance in our daily life. SLAM, Workshop on Hydrogeological risks in FrascatiFrascati, Rome next may 5th, 2005 will host the SLAM Project Workshop "Earth Observation as a tool for the Hydrogeological risks management". The event is organized by ESA ESRIN in its Headquarter and will officially present the project results to those agencies involved in land management and hydrogeological risks prevention. GIS & Remote Sensing Course in BariThe 10th edition of the GIS & Remote Sensing course, organized by Planetek Italia, will take place in Bari, from the 13th to the 17th June. The course (35 hours) will provide theoretical and practical skills in the area of integration of remote sensing with the Geographic Information Systems and the use of WebGIS System. the same course will be held in Palermo from 2nd to 6th may.

Planetek Italia at ESRI and MondoGIS Conferences- 20th and 21st april. 8th ESRI Italian User Conference. Planetek Italia solutions will be presented in two speeches from SINAnet-APAT and Land Department of Regione Lazio.

ER Mapper 7.0 and JPG2000 compressionER Mapper 7.0 and the related products, like the free ER Viewer, introduce a series of brand new functionalities. Notable is the new compression standard support: ER Mapper, Image Web Server, ECW Compressor and ER Viewer together with the ECW format, well known as a standard `de facto', are now able to create, manage and distribute on the web JPEG2000 images, of any size.
