Fire prevention: a workshop to learn moreRepresentatives from the APAT will talk about the BALU project during the
event that will take place on the 24th June 2003 at the CNR ITABC of
Monterotondo Station, Rome. The workshop will present the BALU project,
realized by ESA, Intecs, GIM, Planetek Italia and the University of the
Basilicata, to define a methodology to identify, on the whole national
territory, the changes in the land use in forest fire areas. The

The fourth thematic seminar of Planetek ItaliaGIS systems and WEBGIS will be to the theme of the last thematic seminar
of the cycle organized by Planetek Italia and addressed to professionals.
The meeting, scheduled for next June 25th, will take place in the
Conferences Room of the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori in Bari. The seminar will
show the relationship between geographic database and GIS tools, and it
will examine in depth the issue of geographic data on-line distribution
thanks to WebGIS. The seminar will close the cycle of four meetings
regarding the territorial information. -

How to prevent and monitor forest fires
The first course on forest fire monitoring organized by Planetek will take
place July 1st to 3rd, 2003. "The GIS and Earth Observation data for the
prevention and the monitoring of the forest fires" is the theme that in
three days will be deeply explained by specialists in the matter. Course
participants will also learn the new normative in the subject. Besides,
thanks to case studies related to projects developed by Planetek Italia,
they will be illustrated the different applications of Earth Observation
and Geographical Information Systems to support the monitoring and the
prevention of forest fires.
