    A tour of Italy with the Ministry of the Environment

    Since a month it is possible to visualize the orthophotos of the whole Italy with a simple click. The Ministry of the Environment has realized a cartographic reference web site to make available raster data of the whole Italy with a selection by region, province and place-names. The web site has been realized in cooperation with Planetek Italia, thanks to Image Web Server that has allowed the distribution of gigabyte of images via the Internet. Users may access for free to the web site, after the registration, with a common browser like Internet Explorer and may use the images directly within softwares that support the ER Mapper ECW format .

    The orthophotos of Regione Sicilia on-line

    Assessorato Ambiente e Territorio of Regione Sicilia, as many public administration in Italy already did, has put the orthophotos of the whole Sicily on line. The data are organized according to the cartographic archive of Regione Sicilia using Image Web Server and ECW format.

    France - a workshop on disaster management

    A training workshop about the International Charter “Space et Major Disaster" will be held on the 18th and the 19th March in Asnières-sur-Seine (France). The workshop has been organized by SERTIT for the France Civil Protection and for the Ministry of Internal of France. Objective of the workshop is to provide both training on the new direction in the "Disaster Management" and news and information about the potential of aerospace application in the field on emergency management.
    Topics of the workshop are earthquakes, volcano eruptions, flooding and coastal pollution, to finish with landslides and forest fires. On the two latest issues Planetek Italia will give his contribution presenting some real application.

    A success called “Envisat”

    The launch of the rocket Ariane 5 has been a success. The rocket has left the round base of Kourou, in the France Guyana, and it has put on orbit the satellite Envisat produced by the Euroean Spatial Agency. Powerful and really complex, weighing more than eight tons, and as tall as a three floors building. Envisat will provide precise information about the wealth of the Earth and about the climate, turning around the planet 14 times a day and redrawing the map of the Earth each three jour. The satellite, positioned at 800 km above the Earth surface, will give measurement about variation of the Earth.

    Planetek Italia to the 5th ESRI Conference

    The 5th ESRI User Conference will be held on the 10th and the 11th April, in the Auditorium "Il Massimo" in Rome. An important event whose topic this year is the tradition and the innovation in e-geography. Planetek Italia will partecipate to the Conference with a stand in the exposition area, with a poster and a presentation in the session "La condivisione della cartografia raster dell`Amministrazione Regionale Lombarda".
