A New Year with Planetek ItaliaDear friends,
This year too we decided to renew what has become a sort of tradition for us. We have chosen, once more, to devolve to a no-profit association what we were supposed to spend for mailing traditional wishing cards. To wish you a great 2002 with a thought for people who are not as lucky as we are, we have chosen the A.R.C.Ha.: a Recreational Cultural Association for Handicapped, concerned since eighteen years with the rehabilitation of disabled persons by emphasizing their abilities.

Provincia of Rome introduces its On-Line CartographyThe new web site of the Geographic Information System of the Provincia of Rome will be presented in Rome, in Sala Luigi di Liegro of Palazzo Valentini.
The presentation of On-Line Cartography of the administration will be held at 11 a.m. of Wednesday 12th December. It has been promoted by the Assessorato to territorial, environmental and town planning, information systems.
The web site, realized thanks to the integration between Image Web Server and Autodesk MapGuide, will be active from 13th December. -
A dive in the italian cartography with "E-Geo: a sea of maps"
The project "E-Geo: a sea of maps" comes from a proposal of the President of the Italian Geological Society and the agreement between the University of Siena, technical magazines and the most important geological and cartographic centers in Italy.
The project has been developed by a team working on Applied Geology in the University of Siena.
In this framework the most complete digital archive of the italian geothematic cartography has been realized, to spread the geological culture in Italy.
The distribution of cartography via the internet has been made possible thanks to Image Web Server. All the maps are available for free. -
Training Course on ER Mapper: Rome, 13th-14th december
Planetek Italia and Mondogis keep on working together in the GEOlab research laboratory, to underline the importance of training in the field of remote sensing.
"The processing of remote sensed images using ER Mapper" is the title of the course that will be held in Rome, on the 13th and 14th december 2001 in the GeoLab. 14 hours to supply both theoretical and practical skills for the use of the image processing software.
The course is addressed to professionals, researches, students that need to know deeply the features of image processing, compression and integration of data inside GIS, CAD and Office applications
