Remote training on the use of Earth Observation data for Civil Protection operatorsPlanetek Italia and IUAV- Diploma in SIT, have realized a remote training course on a CD-rom called "Earth Observation for civil protection", addressed to all those people who are interested in prevention, management and recovery of natural and antropic disasters.
The CD-rom, avaiable in English and Italian languages, includes a general course of remote sensing and several examples of use of Earth Observation data for the monitoring and management of disasters. It will be given free of charge to the civil protection operators in Italy. The project has been carried out with the essential help of Prefettura di Bari, Civil Protection Service and Comune di Venezia. -
MANHUMA - management and safeguard of humid areas
On 28th and 29th march, the 6th meeting of the research and development project "Manhuma" (managment of umid areas) took place in France at Ungersheim within the IV EC programme "Enviroment and Climate" of CEO (Centre for Earth Observation).
Manhuma`s aim is the use of earth observation data in the management and safeguard of the humid areas.Within this research project, Planetek Italia, together with its English and German partners has developed a range of products for the management of the humid areas and have tested them in the area going from the Po Delta to Venice Lagoon.
The project, which will end on 30th September 2000, has reached the decisive evaluation stage by the users of the following 3 geo informative products:
- the cartographical list of the humid areas- the monitoring system of the changes in the humid areas
- the evaluation system of the effectiveness at the applied safeguard measures
All parties interested may examine those products contacting directly Planetek Italia. -
ER Mapper temporary licences for students
Thanks to the great success ER Mapper has in the accademic field and in order to fulfil the requirements of the numerous students using ER Mapper within the research project or thesis activities, Planetek Italia has started "the temporary licence programme for students".
The University Departments, who have an ER Mapper licence, with an active maintenance contract may ask for the issue of free temporary ER Mapper licences for their own students (max.3 months), who will be allowed to set up the software on their own PCs. Raster cartography and orthophotos via Internet/Intranet: Image Web Server presentation
Last march, 14th 2000 Planetek Italia was very successful on the presentation in Rome - at ACER conference center- of the Image Web server for the fast, dinamic, and immediate diffusion of ortophotos, satellite images and raster cartography in Internet and Intranet. More than one hundred people attended the meeting and all of them were greatly interested in the potentiality of the new product. Planetek Italia Quality System Certification
On January 2000 Planetek Italia obtained the certification of the third stage of its own quality system from the Det Norske Veritas (it is a board of certification which is accredited by Sincert and internationally recognized). The company started the implementation activities of its own system in 1998 and at the moment it operates according to the line of the total quality system. The company has always been orientated towards a line of continuos improvement both for its products/services and for the managment of the internal organization in order to achive the most complete satisfaction of customers. This has permitted to pass the check of the third stage with the recognition of a fully integrated quality system.
