The Image Web Server enables a Microsoft Web Server to send imagery of unlimited size over the Internet directly into a users web browser or application.
The Image Web Server is based on the Enhanced Compressed Wavelet (ECW) compression format created by Earth Resource Mapping. When combined with ECWP, an Internet protocol designed for streaming imagery to your desktop, the Image Web Server revolutionizes the way industries, that rely on imagery of any kind, do business. Sharing data among co-workers and clients has never been easier. With this technology, all you need is a Web browser or ECW enabled application.
Using the ECW file format, the Image Web Server is capable of streaming any size imagery to a web browser or desktop application that is "ECW enabled". The Image Web Server sends only the amount of data necessary to display the requested view. Because viewing (decompression) is done by the application plug-in, very large amounts of data can be sent very quickly to users anywhere in the world. Earth Resource Mapping provides ECW application plug-ins free of charge for users that want to access ECW imagery.
